Hiking Fun in Israel

By Avi Doubler* One has to be careful with which hike one chooses, because the hikes that are most fun for a bar mitzvah age boy are too rigorous for people who aren't that age. In the same light, that which is appropriate for grandmothers is of much less interest to bar mitzvah aged children. Even the choice of a guided tour needs guidance. Here are some of the favorite tours that one can choose to take in order to make your stay in Israel pleasant and unforgetable:

  • Darja Elyon-
This is a rigorous hike, Perfect for an energetic or younger group ( not too young); hot, rope climbing, pulling up or down the mountain with metal poles or handholds- 3 hours.
While we're on the Darja Elyon- something that can be done at the Darja or at Qumran or the Carmel- Rappeling- going down the mountain on a rope.
Hiking/Swimming- Ascents and Descents- with waterfalls and springs in the Golan
  • Nachal Zavitan, Yehudiya, El Al, Hameshushim and many other choice places in the area.
  • North Eastern corner of Kineret- Majrassa- Mild 1hour walk in water one way and back on dry land parallel- depth varies from calf to chest level.
