Gardens Donated by Other Nations in the Wohl Rose Garden

A special part of the Wohl Park has been designated as the Garden of the Nations (Hebrew: 'haleket haamim'). It should not to be mistaken for a similarly sounding rock complex in yad vashem (Hebrew: literally: 'hand/strength and name'; 'Jerusalem-based main Holocaust memorial, museum, research and studying institute'). The Garden of the Nations is an area divided into several plots of land, honouring the foreign countries or cities, as well the political celebrities (cf. the film by Woody Allen) who dedicated these units on behalf of their governments.

A popular folk wisdom says 'There is no rose without a thorn'. So, is in love, no-one and no situation is free of suffering or existential pain for love is the strongest of human instincts. Culturally, the rose has been ascribed many love-related meanings in Europe, related to different phases of love relationship between two people. The Asian flower parallel might be lotus.
